The project partners of the SONET-Bull project met on 15-16 January 2015 in Patras to discuss about the project, its implementation progress and future actions. Patras is a beautiful city located at the Region of Western Greece, on the Ionian sea.
Project coordinator Achilles Kameas of Hellenic Open University presented a detailed overview of the project activities and expected intellectual outputs. Each partner in turn contributed with detailed description of the task they are leading. During the first day of the meeting, Hellenic Open University organized in the premises of Agora Argyris a workshop titled “A safety network: Could we be more effective in bullying battle?”, inviting stakeholders of the school community.
The workshop has been publicized in local media. Among the participants were the Director of Secondary Education of Achaia Prefecture, the Head of Scientific and Pedagogical Guidance of Secondary Education of Western Greece, the coordinator of the Observatory about Preventing School Violence and Bullying of Western Greece, the headmaster of the Model Experimental Junior High School of Patras, several school principals, school teachers and parents.
The aim of the workshop was to make the participants aware of the project and its partners, to engage them in dialogue about bullying incidents, good practices and strategies and to invite them to participate as end users, thus increasing the benefits for the local educational community. Participants joined in a warm discussion about school bullying indicating that they anticipate with great interest the project outcomes and especially the training platform.
